A drive-by shooting overnight turned into a high-speed chase and police continue searching for the gunman, according to Oklahoma City Police officials. The case spanned from northwest Oklahoma City to Edmond.
A dramatic scene involving dozens of officers and the tactical team unfolded at the Oxford Oaks apartment complex in Edmond early Wednesday morning. A white charger came to a dead-end following a high-speed pursuit through the metro.
“The pursuit ended at an apartment complex off 2nd street in Edmond,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department.
The pursuit started after witnesses and a victim called police to report a shooting at a different apartment complex near west Hefner Road and North Western Avenue.
“Police responded to a shooting. This actually turned out to be a drive-by shooting,” said Quirk. “As officers were responding there, a vehicle description was given that the suspects fled in. Officers found that vehicle.”
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers and Edmond Police assisted Oklahoma City officers in the pursuit. As the driver led authorities into the Oxford Oaks apartments, police said 29-year-old Brianna Clark bailed from the car.
“The passenger was ultimately taken into custody,” said Quirk.
The driver also fled on foot. He disappeared from drones and Air One flying overhead. Police called out the tactical team believing the suspect was inside a relative's apartment. After several hours of searching, police said the suspect was not inside the apartment and evaded capture.
“Police do believe they have identified that driver,” said Quirk. “But the passenger was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.”
Police said the victim from the drive-by shooting had a non-life threatening injury.
