Oklahoma City Schools Shares Bus Safety Tips

While students across the state return to school as the first day of classes begins, Oklahoma City Public Schools is reminding those in the community to be careful around school buses.

OKCPS said drivers should always pay attention to bus loading lights, and to never go around a bus stop sign.

To avoid injury, OKCPS also said students must stay at least 10 feet away from the curb and to always stay seated on the bus.

The district also said in order to keep everyone safe, students on the bus should keep their voice level low, be respectful and follow the driver's instructions.

Despite a bus driver shortage, OKCPS said they’ve had a successful summer for hiring but are still in need of several more bus drivers.
