Norman Schools To Discuss Adding Additional School Resource Officers

Norman Public Schools is holding back-to-back meetings to discuss the addition of more than a dozen school resource officers around the district.

Currently, there are 13 SROs across the district, but NPS is interested in adding 17 officers for the district's elementary schools.

If approved, the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department is ready to hire to fill the additional positions.

School officials are expected to meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Students return to the classroom in Norman on Thursday.
