Firefighters' Boots Melt As Crew Battle Flames In Record-Breaking Heat

It was so hot in Oklahoma City on Saturday that some firefighters' boots melted as they battled flames at an outbuilding.

Crews simultaneously battled the triple-digit heat and fire near NE 41st and Lindsay Saturday afternoon.

"It's obviously very hot today," said OKCFD Battalion Chief Lance Burnett. "We had three firefighters, their boots did get so hot the soles separated."

Those firefighters said their boots melted in the sweltering heat.

the fire spread to brush and a tree line, burning about five acres, but was quickly contained, and no injuries were reported.
