Cushing Public Schools Placed On Lockdown After Social Media Threat

Cushing Public Schools was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after a threat on social media was directed towards the district, school officials say.

The district said they had received a threat to the schools on social media, and police have been called to secure the district and locate the source of the threat.

"All students are safe," the district said. "We will remain in a shelter in place out of an abundance of caution until the source is identified."

The district said they have moved out of shelter in place and into a heightened alert. Authorities have identified and debunked the threat as not credible, the district said.

There will be an increased law enforcement presence out of caution.
