Communities across the state are remembering Cleveland County Deputy Jordan Cannon who was shot and killed early Wednesday morning.
The Cleveland County Courthouse has its flags flying at half-staff Thursday, and Deputy Cannon's car is parked out front with white flowers on the hood and a wreath nearby.
The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office is mourning the death of 40-year-old Jordan Cannon, but they’re not alone.
An outpour of love and support has been shared on social media showing the impact Deputy Cannon had.
The Grady County Sheriff's Office said she will truly be missed, asking for prayers for her parents and son.
Before Deputy Cannon’s time with Cleveland County, she worked at the Okarche Police Department, where she could be found spending time reading to students.
“She spent a majority of time up there, just doing what she could to influence young little minds,” Okarche Police Lieutenant Kyle Bridges said.
The Oklahoma City Police Department released body camera footage of officers arresting Vaughn Cannon, another deputy with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office.
Throughout the video Vaughn screams about his uncle. Police said this incident remains under investigation, but Vaughn is accused of killing Jordan inside of their home.
"It appears the two were engaged in some type of heated argument, retrieved a handgun, and shot and killed the female," Master Sergeant Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department said.
The community is invited to a candlelight vigil to honor Deputy Cannon’s life at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cleveland County Courthouse.
