The man accused of hitting and killing Edmond Police Sgt. CJ Nelson in 2022, has been released on a medical OR bond, according to court documents.

Jay Fite was released without requiring a cash bail on the promise that Fite will appear at his court dates.

According to court filings, Fite must wear an ankle monitor, and otherwise be on house arrest.

A medical OR bond, OR meaning own recognizance, is issued when a judge determines that a detainee's medical needs serious enough to serve as the basis for release.
