A driver wanted on multiple felony warrants led troopers on a chase topping 140 miles an hour, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says.

The trooper who closed in on the driver was being guided by a veteran through the intense moments that came to an abrupt end in Stephens County.

The trooper behind wheel, had been on the job for 60 days. In the passenger seat, his field training trooper provided guidance and instruction.

Speeding past troopers on a sunny afternoon in August, partners Trooper Keithly and Trooper Mackey whipped around.

The white four door sedan captured on dashcam video is seen pulling onto the shoulder of Highway 7.

Before troopers could confront the driver, the vehicle is seen on camera taking off.

Initiating a pursuit that spanned two counties and wound through multiple cities.

Trooper Keithley: He running?
Trooper Mackey: I don't know.
Dispatch: Speeds are about 140 eastbound.

As speeds climbed for fifteen minutes, the driver of the car giving chase, Derrick Williams pressed on. Trooper Mackey is heard laying out his partner’s plan of action.

Trooper Mackey: He's coming up on a car give him some room
Trooper Mackey: Once you get past town, go up there and attempt a TVI.

In every pursuit OHP says delicate timing is imperative.

Trooper Mackey: Get back, get back, give me some room, give me some room! Go around.
Trooper Mackey: You can do it, just hammer it.
Trooper Keithley: I’m flooring it.

“These two did a great job during this pursuit, there were several times they could have done the TVI and got it off the roadway. But they recognized it would have put themselves, the suspect and public in danger,” said Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Brack Miller.

But before troopers were able to safely force the car off the road, Williams made a hard left, and never bothered to slow down.

With the car on it's top, Williams was seen running away.

As his vehicle burst into flames, Troopers chased after Williams. He was found hiding nearby and arrested.

Troopers did find a gun in Williams' vehicle, and said it was loaded with ball ammunition designed to remain intact on impact.
