Inert Hand Grenades Cause Disruption At Will Rogers World Airport

Airport security at Will Rogers World Airport found inert explosives in luggage on Wednesday, Oklahoma City Police say.

According to the Oklahoma City Police, a traveler declared two WWII-era inert hand grenades when he checked his bag with an airline.

OCPD said the airline allowed the bag to be checked and sent it to TSA screening. When the bag was x-rayed by TSA, they alerted OCPD and shut down operations. 

The Oklahoma City Police Bomb Squad, with the help of TSA's bomb tech and dog, were able to verify the grenades were not live. 

The traveler took custody of the grenades and rebooked his flight.

OCPD said the total disruption of airport operations was less than 25 minutes.
