A woman was arrested Sunday for allegedly shooting her neighbor in Pottawatomie County, according to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Department.
According to Pottawatomie County Sheriffs, Brandy Caldwell is accused of shooting her neighbor over what investigators said was a dispute over a dog.
"She claimed it was hers. He claimed it was his dog," said Pottawatomie County Undersheriff Travis Dinwiddie.
Sunday the neighbors’ argument came to a boil. “We had a male subject call in and say he had been shot,” said Dinwiddie.
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office said the man claimed he was arguing with his neighbor Brandy Caldwell when he tried to go back home, but as he was walking down the driveway he was shot.“He said she went into a house and retrieved a gun and shot him,” said Dinwiddie.
Investigators said the man ran to a neighbor's home where he called for help. Deputies surrounded Caldwell's trailer, according to authorities.
“We held a perimeter on the house, we tried to call her out. we had no luck,” said Dinwiddie.
Pottawatomie County Sheriffs told News 9, that they called for more help. “We reached out to Shawnee Police Department and they activated their SWAT team,” said Dinwiddie. With an armored vehicle outside, officers in full tactical gear ordered Caldwell to surrender.
The chaos unfolded right before the catalyst that started it all. “The dog was on scene while we were there, the whole time,” said Dinwiddie.
Unable to flush Caldwell out with tear gas officers realized she was gone, said Pottawatomie County Sheriffs. “They learned at that time she was no longer on scene,” said Dinwiddie.
But just after sunset, Fugitive Task Force officers tracked her down during a traffic stop, according to authorities. Caldwell was ordered out and arrested, said the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Department. “You shoot someone over anything, it's of the utmost importance to get them off the street,” said Dinwiddie.
The shooting victim is expected to make a full recovery, according to authorities. Pottawatomie County Sheriffs say Caldwell was jailed on outstanding warrants, and on a complaint of shooting with intent to kill.
