A group of survivors are coming together for events all through October. The Breast Cancer Survivors of Oklahoma are holding the first annual Packaged in Pink Fashion Show this Saturday.

Breast Cancer Survivors Oklahoma, Quail Springs Mall, and UBCF have joined together to hold an event Saturday from noon - 3 p.m. with a pink bag giveaway and fashion show.

“We teamed up with Quail Springs Mall to do the 'Packed-In-Pink' fashion show. "We have a total of 26 models that are all breast cancer survivors and they're doing a pink bag giveaway,” said Crystal Freeman, a member of Breast Cancer Survivors, OK.

Crystal Freeman helped start this group with a simple conversation with a fellow breast cancer survivor. “We both had double mastectomies so that's how it was all created from the get-go. It was a conversation between two people that had breast cancer,” said Freeman. But over the years, the group has grown to over 700 women, and counting.

“Oh my gosh - it became a big sisterhood,” said Freeman. “I'm personally excited because I get to see all my sisters again and we get to be together all as one, and that is always a blast,” said Freeman.

They say their group motto is all about the survivors supporting the fighters. “This is not only a fight, but also a battle and you don't have to go through it by yourself,” said Freeman.

The fashion show will feature breast cancer survivors who will walk in honor of their survivorship and the tenacity that it took to overcome their breast cancer diagnosis. “This month is our month so wear pink all day every day, I love it and on top of that we're going to celebrate every weekend and as many days as we can,” said Freeman.

Pink bags will be gifted to each breast cancer survivor who signs up at Breast Cancer Fighters and Survivors of Oklahoma and attends the event (while supplies last).
