DEL CITY, Okla. -

A student at Del City High School brought a firearm to school Monday, Principal Gilliland confirms.

The school was alerted prior to the school day and administrators were waiting for the student when they arrived, according to Gilliland. The weapon was found by administration in the student's backpack and the student was arrested on school grounds, Del City police confirm.

The student will not be returning to school for the remainder of the year, according to Gilliland.
