The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man accused of shooting two people on Wednesday in a downtown parking garage.
Xzavier Samilton was arrested Wednesday evening and charged with shooting with intent to kill.
Citizens reported hearing close to 10 gunshots around 10:30 a.m. at a parking garage across the street from the Oklahoma County Courthouse annex building near Hudson Avenue and Robert S. Kerr Avenue. County deputies working in the courthouse building also heard the gunshots and ran to the parking garage to start the investigation.
“I didn’t hear anybody yelling at all, it was just ‘bam bam bam bam bam bam’ and then you seen deputies running across there,” said Andrew Waterman, witness. “That’s when I went in to try to get my car.”
Police locked down the Metro Parking garage for the investigation. Shell casing were found near the second floor, but the shooter was long gone.
“They weren’t letting anybody in or out,” said Chad Trawick, witness. “And by the time we got down here to get across to the parking garage they had already cordoned everything off.”
The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office said the shooting stemmed from an argument that broke out on the 8th floor of the courthouse. The fight was believed to be between rival gang members.
“Everybody bounces,” said Aaron Brilbeck, Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office. “They’re going towards their cars and for whatever reason that fight resumed again in the garage.”
A short time later, two shooting victims showed up at OU Medical Center. Bob Mills Sky News 9 flew over what appeared to be a car covered in bullet holes near the emergency room.
“A male adult and a female adult were both shot,” said Brilbeck. “Non-life-threatening injuries. They were able to take themselves to the hospital.”
Police found what appeared to be a third scene near Northwest 3rd and Walnut. Authorities said more shell casings were found on the ground.
Officials said the victims are not cooperating with investigators. Samilton's bond is set at $10 million.
