Whether it’s to stay in shape or prove you’ve still got the skills of your youth, the adult athletic league is playing flag football for adults eighteen and over.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re fifty, thirty, or eighteen, this is the league for you to go out and just really show what you have left in the tank,” said league organizer, Austin Starks.

This is season five of the league, which is open to everyone. “You show up, it doesn’t matter if you haven’t played in thirty years if you’ve never played at all and you just want to try it out,” said Starks.

While players have a lot of fun, it can be just a little competitive. “Every level of football has a level of competition, and this one is no different, but it’s not over the top,” said Starks. “It is competitive, there are teams that are out there that have a blast, they’ve got their plays written up,” said player Keegan Miller.

At twenty-eight years old Miller had not played football since high school. “Ever since I graduated, I have been looking for a way to get back into the sport in some form or fashion. I wasn’t the biggest, fastest, you know strongest, whatever, so you know flag football was an easy way for me to kind of get back into the sport,” said Miller.

And ladies, yes, this league is a league for everyone. “Yeah, it is still a lot to learn, but honestly the rules of flag I feel like are really conducive to learning it,” said player Brianna Morris.

Morris is now in her third season with the league, and not only is she hooked, but she also encourages other ladies to give it a try. “There’s a lot of opportunity out there. I never thought I’d start a new sport at thirty and end up having a really great time with it, so, I absolutely encourage other girls to come out,” said Morris.

The league starts this Friday, October 27 at Score OKC in Edmond. It lasts five weeks plus the playoffs, and participants must register to play on a team. “Anybody can play. It’s not like anybody is looked down upon, there’s a lot of comraderies in the sport, regardless to how much experience you have,” said Miller. “Just bringing everybody together for fun and for football,” said Starks.

There are still spots available with teams. For more information and to sign up, visit their website www.okadultathletics.com
