Frank Byers was taken into custody Tuesday night by El Reno Police, along with deputies from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office.
According to an arrest warrant, Pottawatomie County deputies said they believe Byers killed his wife Makayla Meave by shooting her twice in the head, because he wanted to establish a relationship with another woman. Byers had previously reported Maeve as missing.
Court documents showed Meave’s father told Investigators that his daughter recently asked for a divorce, and a search warrant into the couple’s home revealed deputies found two .22-caliber bullet casings, broken glass and blood spots on the floor and bed sheets inside the home.
The warrant also said Byers then removed the sim card from Meave’s phone, and placed it into another one to log into her Facebook account to exchange fake messages in an attempt to create a fictitious story.
Investigators said Byers wrapped Meave’s body in carpet, and placed her roughly 2,000 feet from the home in an attempt to conceal his crime.
Byers has been charged with first-degree murder, the removal of a dead body and desecration of a corpse. Byers is being transported to the Pottawatomie County jail Wednesday morning.
