The NBA regular season is officially underway, but the Thunder's first matchup comes Wednesday night in Chicago against the Bulls.
Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had an All-NBA season last year, solidifying himself as the cornerstone of this franchise.
Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan, the former head coach for the Thunder from 2015 to 2020, first coached Gilgeous-Alexander in 2019 when he was traded to the team by the Los Angeles Clippers.
"I'm not surprised of the growth he's continued to make," Donovan said of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Players for the Bulls also said they are prepared to take on the star.
"We're gonna put it upon ourselves to help slow him down," Bulls point guard Coby White said. "He's a special talent, he's different."
For the Thunder as a whole, Billy Donovan said the team is well-disciplined.
"I think they're very unselfish," Donovan said. "I think they move the basketball. They try to play with pace. I think Mark's (Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault) done a really good job with the group, they have a lot of versatility."
Tipoff for the Thunder-Bulls game is at 7 p.m.
