A metro man was arrested by Arcadia police on Wednesday for allegedly protecting a woman and her two children. Arcadia police said Quindolyne Wilson, 28, shot the woman’s boyfriend.
The adult male victim was taken to an area hospital in critical condition but was expected to survive.
“Arcadia is a very quiet town,” said Chief Charles Wyatt, Arcadia Police Department. “About 9 o’clock at night you don’t normally see anybody on the streets out here.”
That was not the case Wednesday night. Police lights and crime tape surrounded a home near Main Street and East 3rd Street in Arcadia.
When Chief Charles Wyatt arrived, he said the suspected shooter was still at the scene. “He surrendered himself,” said Wyatt.
Wilson told officers he intervened in a domestic abuse situation that involved his girlfriend's mother, the woman's boyfriend, and two juveniles at the home.
“He was sitting in the vehicle, and he looked over and an altercation was ensuing between the victim and the children,” said Wyatt. “He stepped out to intervene and told him to stop. Didn’t stop, he pulled the gun, and bad led to worse.”
Wyatt said the shooting victim was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. “He had been shot multiple times,” said Wyatt.
During the investigation, officers learned the shooting victim beat the woman earlier in the day. Wyatt confirmed the woman had visible injuries to her face. He said this was an ongoing investigation and would take time to sort through the witness statements.
The Arcadia police chief said the man in the hospital will face charges of domestic and child abuse.
