511 yards. 5 touchdown passes. 2 interceptions.
Those are the numbers for Jason Bean in 2 starts against Oklahoma over the past two seasons.
News 9’s Dusty Dvoracek has a few tips for OU going into the game against Jason Bean and The Jayhawks on Saturday.
“I think the biggest thing is to contain him. And you know, with Jason Bean there’s going to be some design quarterback run game. But off of the throw game, if you don't have proper pass-rush lanes if you get too many guys at one side of the center, it opens up some running lanes for the quarterback. He’s going to take advantage. And he’s going to make you pay. Especially if Oklahoma has any man-to-man coverage,” said Dusty.
And in containing Bean’s ability to run away with the ball, comes the Who.
Who is going to contain him? And who’s going to keep an eye on him?
“So I’d expect anytime there’s a mobile quarterback, you oftentimes see a spy, you can also see a lot of zone coverage. I do expect that we could see Danny Stutsman, and Jaren Kanak spying on quarterback Jason Bean, just in case he decides to tuck and run. He’s got great speed with the football. He’s also got a big arm, with excellent wide receivers down the field,” said Dusty.
Kansas’ offense is a tough one to beat, and with an impressive quarterback, this weekend could be a challenge for The Sooners.
“So there’s no question. It’s a big challenge to deal with this Kansas offense. It’s a big challenge to deal with Jason Bean’s ability to run with the football, as well as throw it.”
