An Oklahoma prisoner says his human rights are being violated. Allen Williamson is housed inside the Great Plains Correctional Center in Hinton where his family says he has filed numerous grievances.
Brandy Standridge says her dad is serving a life sentence inside the prison and while that means his freedom is deprived, she claims he’s being denied much more than that. Food deliveries arrived on Monday at the prison, but Standridge says certain meals aren’t being delivered to her father on the inside.
“I'm afraid he's going to die in here,” she said. “He went 24 hours without a meal several times or one meal in a 24-hour period."
She said Williamson is diabetic and due to his religious beliefs is also on a kosher diet. “People have stolen the meals, and they tell him he has to eat off of the tray because they don't have a meal for him and that violates his religious rights,” she said.
She said her father has filed several grievances about the issues. “He's a diabetic and he's on diabetic medication and he can't take his medicine without food and if he doesn't have food, he is getting sick.” Standridge said.
Standridge said her father has spent almost 26 years behind bars, convicted of second-degree murder, and been transferred several times. “I don't expect them to have like Nintendo’s and stuff like that in here but three meals a day, showers, outside time.
Basic needs, she says, aren’t being met. “They don't have a voice in there and a lot of people look down on them because they are prisoners but they're human,” she said.
News 9 contacted the Oklahoma Department of Corrections and was told the agency is aware of these allegations and looking into them.
