Neighbors were caught off guard by broken glass and windows busted out of cars at their Edmond apartment complex.

Edmond Police are investigating a string of car break-ins overnight at the Villas at Stonebridge near 33rd and Boulevard.

Police said they patrolled through the area around 3 a.m. Monday morning. They believe the break-ins must’ve occurred shortly after that.

Around 5:30 this morning, Edmond Police were called to this apartment complex. “So, just about every row had it seemed like to me had a car broken into,” Cole Ranney said.

Villas at Stonebridge said its maintenance team spent the day cleaning up broken glass. The complex is asking residents to contact them if they were a victim of the overnight smash and grab. So far, they have about 10 reports.

“When I noticed some of my daughter's pictures were on the ground in the back and I always keep them in my middle console and that's when I was like wait a second,” Ranney said.

Ranney said the burglars got in on the passenger side. “One of the windows was laminated so they were unable to break it. They did kind of spiderweb it a little bit. Then, I guess they decided to move on to the back window and busted it out,” Ranney said.

Police tell News 9 that several vehicles were broken into. Ranney is thankful he did not lose anything expensive, but the repairs will cost about $500.

“I had other things I was going to do with that money of course. But, I’ll be spending it on car windows now,” Ranney said.

Burglaries increase as we approach the holiday season and as Ranney knows all too well they can happen anywhere. “You've got families that got children around there. That could turn into a dangerous situation,” Ranney said.

Edmond Police will be patrolling the area. So far, no arrests have been made.
