Many Oklahomans are losing their coverage through Soonercare as pandemic policies are rolled back when it comes to Medicaid.
Jeff Yuan, co-founder of Taro Health, joined Lacey and Robin to discuss affordable health insurance options.
Yuan said the best way to find insurance is to log on to helathcare.gov to shop for affordable health plans.
“A lot of people don’t realize that there’s a lot of discounts and subsidies available,” Yuan said. “A vast majority of people can actually buy health insurance plans for $50 a month, depending on their annual income.”
His biggest piece of advice for those shopping for healthcare plans is to take the time to research and look into personalized quotes.
He said that most people assume that health insurance is very expensive, and while that is sometimes the case, he said there are ways to save money. He emphasized taking advantage of discounts and subsidies that are available, especially to those who are losing their coverage from Medicaid.
“We talk to people all the time who are just shocked at how affordable it can be,” Yuan said.
November 1 is the start of open enrollment for health insurance.
