An Oklahoma City man found his stolen car on Tuesday while watching News 9 in the morning. Police said a group of teenagers were arrested overnight after a pursuit in the stolen vehicle.

The car was reported stolen Monday morning from an apartment complex near Northwest 122nd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. The car’s owner said the front security gate of the complex is always open and believes that was how the thieves got onto the property.

Even more shocking than learning his car was stolen. “Kind of freaked out,” said Michael Garvin, who had his car stolen. “Did the whole thing and called the cops.”

Michael Garvin saw his car on the news Tuesday morning. Garvin knew it was his car because of the rack on top and the stickers. The car also stood out to police patrolling near northeast 23rd and Lincoln Boulevard. The driver saw police behind them and took off, starting a pursuit.

“I’m not exactly sure how long the pursuit lasted but it did come to an end near northeast 18th and Highland,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department.

Police said the five people inside the car bailed on foot. The officer chasing the driver lost the suspect, but it was noted in a report the officer saw the suspect running with a gun. Police set up a perimeter in the area searching from the air and ground. Officers found the four teenage passengers.

“There was a firearm that was found in the backyard of a residence,” said Quirk. “But again, the driver remained outstanding.”

Garvin has no idea if the suspects did anything with his personal items in the car, but he was happy it was found and in one piece.

“I had all my camping stuff in there and had all my work stuff in there. I’m also a Door Dasher. I also ref. I work like 80 hours a week actually. So, this car is more, it’s my livelihood,” said Garvin. “I’m honestly so glad they found it because I don’t know what I would do without it.”

The underage suspects were taken to the county juvenile detention center. Police did not say what charges they could face.
