It’s called The Patch, located in Edmond, it’s the perfect place for kids and adults to come and hang out, get rid of some energy, and of course, meet some really cool animals.
“Basically, it’s a fun place where she has a lot of animals, things to do, learn, places to play,” said Christy Buckner caretaker with The Patch.
To the workers, it’s simply the farm. “We have several horses, we have donkeys, we have a couple of alpacas, we have three cows,” said Buckner.
They also have roosters, rabbits, pigs, and a ton of goats, some of them that even give hugs. “An African spur tortoise, that the baby goats tried to ride the other day, which was something new and fun,” said Buckner.
Surprisingly all the animals seem to get along. Making this the perfect place for school field trips, youth groups, and even birthday parties. “We had a home school group come a couple of weeks ago, they brought about thirty children, and we saddled up some ponies for them to ride and gave them a tour and let them help feed some of the animals,” said Buckner.
They even accommodate special needs children with sensory issues. “When crowded facilities are a bit much for them and they wanted to experience it in a more peaceful environment, with less going on around them, and it was amazing,” said Buckner.
And the cost for all the fun is a simple donation if the guests can afford it. “She has suggested donations for what helps us run as a farm, to help feed the animals and help keep it running, but she doesn’t want anybody not to be able to come,” said Buckner.
“The donations were inspired by the death of a young boy who was just very kind,” said Buckner.
Iain Rowe sadly passed away at the age of 6 in 2020, he loved spreading joy and being kind. “That does extend to birthday parties and events, so if you are financially in need and would like a fun place to have a party,” said Buckner.
The Patch is located at 16315 N. MacArthur Blvd., they are open most weekends. To check availability or to schedule a group event visit their Facebook page @The Patch.
