Defeating West Texas A&M 113-38 in an exhibition match on Monday, newcomers to the Sooners roster proved their worth in Norman after combining for 57 points and 32 rebounds.
Outscoring the Buffaloes each quarter, the Sooners held a dominant lead in the team's final tune-up before the season opener against Wichita State on Monday.
As defending Big 12 champs, the Sooners, led by third-year coach Jennie Baranczyk, will need to continue this momentum if they desire a playoff spot in March.
Following the game's conclusion, Baranczyk said she was proud of her team.
"We wanted to test ourselves with a team that had a strong inside presence and did some really nice things offensively," Baranczyk said. "I thought that we got better because of it. We have some things we need to improve on, definitely, but I'm happy with what we did tonight."
On the road to the win, the Sooners shot 90% from the free throw line, adding 17 points to their total, with six out of the team's ten attempted three-pointers made by senior Lexy Keys. Keys attempted nine of those ten shots.
For the Sooners freshmen, Sahara Williams added 22 points and Landry Allen added six to Oklahoma's total.
Monday's game against the Wichita State Shockers game will air on ESPN+, and tickets are available here.
