Few people have the patience or creativity 1 Tulsa man has.

He built a replica of a well-known Tulsa building, and it's now on display at the Tulsa Artist Fellowship building near Guthrie Green.

The Mayo is one of the most iconic landmarks in Tulsa, and Wyatt Dunham built this more than 4 feet tall creation made mostly out of Lego bricks.

25,000 Lego bricks, in fact.

"The hotel part, which is the red part, is pretty easy to build because it's a pretty repetitive pattern, but the bottom part because that's the part that's going to sell the build,” Wyatt said. “And so I had to make sure it was perfect, absolutely perfect, like how to get all the small details out of Lego bricks."

To get all the small details right, Wyatt looked at 100 different photos of the hotel to build the columns, the Mayo's signature sign, and the lobby.

"It's cool to see the height of it, but you also have to bring it to life on the inside," he said.

It took him more than a month to create.

Wyatt recruited 35 friends to help build the first five floors of the hotel, but the rest was all him.

While rewarding, Wyatt says he's glad it's finished.

"I am on a Lego break til the end of the year,” he said. “I don't want to see any Lego pieces in my kitchen for at least a few weeks."

For now, Wyatt says he will go back to his day job as a tax man, but he's already working on a few new Lego designs and even thinks it could be the building blocks for a new career.

"Who wouldn't want to stay here all day and build Legos for a job?"
