No. 23 Oklahoma used 24 points from Skylar Vann and notched a road win over No. 12/16 Ole Miss on Thursday night, knocking off the Rebels 80-70 in Oxford.
Vann led the way but freshman Sahara Williams added 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Sooners (2-0) secured their first non-conference road win over a top-25 team for the first time in 16 years.
The Sooners trailed 39-38 at the half but outscored Ole Miss (1-1) 24-16 in the third to build a lead. Another strong fourth quarter saw Vann score eight points as OU pulled away from the top-15 foe to win by 10.
Lexy Keys scored 11 points and Aubrey Joens added nine. OU shot 44% and scored 80 points on an Ole Miss team that had only surrendered 80 twice in the last two years. OU dished out 21 assists and was a critical 20-of-24 from the free throw line.
The Sooners return to Norman and take on Oral Roberts at 2 p.m. Sunday in Norman.
