A local antique shop is in the spotlight. Several items featured in the new film "Killers of the Flower Moon" are being sold at Dead People’s Stuff. But for the owners, the pieces carry more significance than just a moment on the silver screen.
"We try to save history," Marymar Fudge said.
She and her husband Curran own Dead People's Stuff and they pride themselves on period pieces and authentic antiques.
"Yes, we do,” Marymar said. “The older the better."
The winding paths through the store are filled with gems from Oklahoma's past.
"You can tell that people want a piece of that history that they can take home with them," Curran said.
"Dead People's Stuff of OKC is known for keeping history alive, but now some of their pieces carry just a little bit of Hollywood charm."
"We probably see the film industry here once a week," Marymar said.
Before filming started right here in Oklahoma, a set designer from Martin Scorsese's “Killers of the Flower Moon” paid the store a visit.
"When he came in he bought a lot of light fixtures, a lot of doors, a lot of hardware," Marymar explained.
When filming wrapped, Marymar and Curran bought back several pieces to keep history where it belongs.
Curran showed News 9 around the shop, pointing out several pieces from the set warehouse, and several that can be seen in the film.
"This [dresser] was in the doctor's office when they're in there buying the poison to poison the girls," Curran explained.
A handmade door from the shop was also featured on screen several times.
"[Leonardo DiCaprio] slammed the door and we're just like, whoa! That's our door, that was our door, yes," Marymar recalled from seeing the movie for the first time.
While not every piece from the set warehouse was featured in the film, the Fudge's say every piece has a purpose.
"Everything is real deal historic items," Curran said.
Those looking for a Killers of the Flower Moon piece can look for the movie title on the price tag on their next trip to Dead People’s Stuff.
"Whether or not it made the movie, they are treasured pieces of history,” Curran said. “We feel fortunate to have them in our store."
Film buffs and historians alike can find something tucked away at Dead People's Stuff.
