Football season never really stops and starts, more like ebbs and flows, but it begins in earnest in the heat of summer. Fitting, then, that it ends in the chill of November. The 4A championship, the first to be decided this year.

Everybody had to wait just a little bit longer Thursday night. A weather delay of over 2 hours pushed kickoff back to 9:20 between the Bulldogs and Lions.

Blanchard struck first. Carson Cooksey rolling out, let it go downfield. Coric Pierce on the other end. Cooksey was 4-for-4 on the first drive.

Couple plays later, Lions finished things off. Brayson Carter went around the far side, through his blocking, and in for a touchdown. The Lions took an early lead in the 4A title game, 7-nothing.

Wagoner scored on a 77-yard kick return from Shaun Atkins, and at the half, the score was 13-7 Blanchard.
