Three new restaurants opened in a storefront on 3rd Street in Tulsa, after each one developed in a Spanish language focused course at the Kitchen 66 restaurant incubator.

Arepa Bar is a Venezuelan restaurant - run by three sisters. “The first time that I cooked Venezuelan for Americans, they went crazy!” said Valeria Romero. “They said, ‘I have to eat this every day.’ I said OK, that could be an option!”

The neighborhood turned out to celebrate the entrepreneurs and the accommodating owner of the building, who is allowing three businesses in one spot.

Raul Montalvo has opened Granada, a natural juice bar featuring Mexican-inspired flavors.

Jonathan Perez is the chef behind a Peruvian restaurant, Inkanto, with a menu he built up working 14 years in other restaurants.

“I'm very happy. I like to cook for my friends, and my family and all the people here in Tulsa,” said Perez.

In a neighborhood with many immigrants, the menu is familiar - and popular, judging from day one, tapping into comfort food of three countries.

Each of the owners has their own story of becoming Americans and now becoming business owners.

“Five years ago, I came from Venezuela,” said Romero, “I had no idea what is going on in this new country, new culture, new language, but now I can see I did the American dream.”
