A man was arrested on Thursday after Oklahoma City police say he tried to board a plane with a gun.
According to a probable cause affidavit, 53-year-old Jesus Martinez went through the TSA checkpoint at the Will Rogers World Airport, to be screened to fly to Houston Texas.
When a TSA screening officer scanned Martinez's backpack, the officer observed a semi-automatic pistol in the x-ray machine, according to the affidavit.
Martinez stated he did not know the firearm was in his bag, and that he was a convicted felon, the affidavit stated. The affidavit continued saying, Martinez stated that the firearm belonged to his girlfriend, and was placed in the bag when children came over to their house.
The affidavit stated that it was confirmed that Martinez had felony convictions for domestic abuse and a violation of a protective order out of Tulsa County.
Martinez was placed under arrest and is accused of possessing a firearm after conviction of a felony, according to the affidavit.
