Work Zone Awareness Week: The Importance Of Paying Attention In Construction Zones

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says Oklahomans can expect road work zones this spring and summer.

Annette Nichols, a safety manager with ODOT, and Ladan Nelson, an Oklahoma Turnpike Authority construction engineer, met with News 9 to discuss safety in work zones.

"Ae want the general public to know that there are workers out there, and to slow down, reduce your speed, be cognizant of what's going on and put down all distractions," Nelson said.

ODOT and OTA are encouraging the public to wear orange this week to help spread the word about work zone awareness week.
