A turkey hunter was injured while hunting in Woods County, according to the Oklahoma Game Wardens.
The game wardens say a party of four was out hunting on private property around dawn. They split into two groups of two and the group without the victim set up near a baited feeder.
The victim and their partner across the open field just inside a wooded area to watch the other two hunt.
When a group of jake turkeys came to the feeder, the hunters shot a turkey and also struck the victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the game wardens.
The hunters were charged with illegal possession of turkeys and hunting turkeys within 100 yards of bait. No charges were filed for the accidental shooting, according to the game wardens.
The Oklahoma Game Wardens would like to remind hunters to take extra caution during turkey season.
"Turkey hunters are clothed head to toe in camouflage while making turkey sounds. Chances of being mistaken for game or being in the line of fire are much more probable," the game wardens said in a social media post. "Be safe out there and always identify your target and what lies beyond!"
