Though football season is in the rearview mirror, Jimmy Quinn is settling up after the team he drafted in fantasy football finished last in the league.
“This is the worst punishment a loser has ever had,” said Quinn.
That punishment is felt step by step as Quinn walks from Edmond to the Paycom Center in Downtown Oklahoma City ahead of the Thunder’s second playoff game.
This 16-mile marathon gives Quinn time to rethink some of his decisions, like drafting Justin Fields as his fantasy quarterback.
A dead last finish is a fall from grace. Quinn and the nine others have been in the same league for 15 years.
The punishment is a little sweeter knowing he’s walking towards a huge playoff game.
“At the end of the season, we didn’t know if the Thunder was going to be in the playoffs, but we kept watching the standings. So, we kept watching hoping to see if we could do it,” said Quinn.
Quinn is capitalizing on the chance to spread awareness on his walk, including the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits.
“The center has been supporting and helping nonprofits throughout the state in ethics, practices and everything they need,” said Marnie Taylor the CEO and President of the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits.
She says it’s been exciting to follow Quinn’s commitment.
“Never did I imagine a poor guy who lost a bet on a raining day would get us on television to talk about what we do,” said Taylor.
