Oklahoma City police released body camera footage on Friday of a recent officer-involved shooting in the southeast part of the city.
The video showed the moments leading up to and after the shooting. The incident was the first officer-involved shooting of the year.
The six officers who fired at 59-year-old Juan Castorenna-Guerrero were placed on administrative leave and police said no one was hurt by the gunfire.
Police were called to a home near southeast 59th and Shields Avenue two weeks ago. Neighbors told officers Castorenna-Guerrero was shooting a gun and shot at a woman twice. They feared he would hurt someone.
The suspect could be seen in the police body camera footage standing by the front door of his home. Officers stood behind a truck across the street and ordered Castorenna-Guerrero to drop his gun.
Seconds later an officer fired a 40-millimeter less lethal round that hit Castorenna-Guerrero in the leg. That was when police said the suspect raised his gun and pointed it at officers.
Despite more than a dozen rounds fired at the suspect, the suspect was not injured and ran into his home.
Investigators noted in court papers that bullet defects were found on the outside of the suspect's home. Police also reviewed the body camera footage from the night and noted an officer could be heard saying, "We had this gentleman point a gun at us and we fired at him."
The footage showed Castorenna-Guerrero eventually walking out of his home and surrendering to officers.
He was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Castorenna-Guerrero has been formally charged with four felony counts of pointing a firearm. He is currently being held in jail on a $400,000 bond.
