The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon has a winner for the men's and women's races.
Korey Larson from Norman won the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon men's winner in the marathon event with a time of 2:31:55.
"I'm really honored to win such an important event to the Oklahoma City community," Larson said. "I think being from here and knowing the significance of the event and the 168 people that were running to honor it really just makes it all that much more special."
Catherine Lisle came in first for the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon women's winner in the marathon event with a time of 2:51:03.
"I prayed for this, and I'm just really grateful," Lisle said.
Runners passed banners honoring each person killed in the Murrah building bombing.
"I was really hurting, and I think when you see those, all the hurt kind of goes away and you realize that you're almost there and they really just sort of lift you up," Larson said.
Runners had support the whole way through the marathon.
"I noticed every time I pass a water shop or a cheering area, my pace would get faster," Lisle said. "I saw someone at mile 20 who just said, 'Cat, it's time to dig now' and just all those. I saw family and friends the whole way."
22,500 runners crossed the finish line after Larson and Lisle, making their way to the finish line festivities in Scissortail Park.
