Four metro men charged for the murder of an innocent nine-year-old boy will go to trial. The suspects have been in court this month for preliminary hearings for a drive-by shooting that killed the child at a southeast Oklahoma City home in October of 2022.
The four murder suspects were bound over for trial on Tuesday and prosecutors will add a second charge of conspiracy to commit murder, according to court records. In court, 'bound over' means the state has established probable cause and the case will be tried, according to the Oklahoma Bar Association.
A southeast Oklahoma City home riddled with bullets. Neighbor Rodney Harvey told News 9 in October 2022 he heard the gunfire.
“It was an automatic rifle, it sounded like,” said Rodney Harvey, witness.
A scene neighbors described as something they will never forget.
“The father came out and said that his kid had been shot and I went to talk to the neighbors on the end who saw the car that left,” said Harvey. “As and I was down there the father drove by and asked me to call 911.”
Police said Sean Beals, Michael Williams, Austin Parker and Micah Knighten drove to the home and opened fire killing nine-year-old Dumarcus Fuller, Jr. while he was playing video games.
Police said the motive for the deadly shooting was retaliation for a stolen bag that contained guns and drugs. Investigators pulled phone records and camera footage that placed the suspects at the crime scene.
The four men appeared in court on three separate days this month for preliminary hearings. Prosecutors presented evidence to the judge and brought in witnesses to testify. Court records showed prosecutors added a third charge of possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction to Williams. All four remain in custody at the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
The four defendants will be back in court on June 12th for their formal arraignments.
