According to a news release, The City of Sulphur and Murray County are hosting a disaster update town hall meeting for residents to get the latest information on disaster assistance.
The meeting will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 4 at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf Auditorium, 1100 E. Oklahoma Avenue, Sulphur.
If you cannot attend the event in person, officials say that the Chickasaw Nation will broadcast the Town Hall Meeting live on their community radio stations 89.5FM, 97.3FM, 89.3FM, and 104.5FM.
To donate to Sulphur residents, cash donations can be sent to reputable voluntary organizations that are providing relief activities after the storms: the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief, and others.
Cash donations to aid survivors of recent severe storms may be sent to the relief fund set up by BancFirst to benefit the immediate needs of Oklahoma communities affected by the devastating April storms. Funds will be administered by Crossway Church of Sulphur. Donate online at https://www.bancfirst.bank/sulphur, or visit any local BancFirst to make a donation in person.
In Sulphur, key items may be donated at the Murray County Expo Center at 3440 W. State Highway 7. The following items are currently needed: propane canisters, charcoal, unused pillows, dog/cat food, first aid kits, tarps, work gloves, scoop shovels, leaf rakes, outdoor chairs, packaged socks, packaged underwear, and collapsible wagons. Donations of water and food (including non-perishable) are no longer needed in Sulphur.
