An EF-0 tornado touched down briefly in Luther early this morning. Though small, it did some damage to one man's home.
At 4:30 AM, Jimmy Macon woke up to a thunderstorm that turned violent in a matter of minutes and tore the roof off a home he's lived in for nearly 30 years.
"It was just one of those things that spurred up and went on," Macon said. "I'm thinking it must've just touched down and went straight back up, but it got me."
The tornado was only on the ground for a few minutes, but it was enough to leave Macon with some damage to his home.
"It destroyed a lot, but it'll be alright," he said. "I've seen other people get a lot worse."
Macon's home was the only one hit in the area.
"I heard it back over here where my cows are. And I thought well somethings bothering the cows, they heard it before I did. They were mooing and raising cane, well I got up and that's when everything just started going up," he said.
His neighbor’s trailer was untouched, but Jimmy's roof, porch, and Mulberry tree all heavily damaged.
"Lot of cleanup left but I’ve had a lot of people in touch with me already," he said. "They're mostly family, I’m there when they need me."
Jimmy says he feels lucky it wasn't worse.
"No cows are dead, we got three baby kittens that were under the shed that made it," he said. "It is what it is."
Macon says he'll be back on his feet in no time thanks to the help pouring in from friends, neighbors, and family.
