The Sunny Dayz Mural Festival is heading to Ponca City on June 1.

Selena Skorman and Paige Powell with the Sunny Dayz Mural Festival joined News 9 to talk about the festival’s mission.

“We're highlighting 50 women and gender minority artists from all over the country,” Skorman said. “Really half of them are gonna be in Oklahoma and local artists that we truly admire, and then the other half are gonna be from all over the country.”

Sunny Dayz works to empower women and gender minority artists, and create public art.

“Public art is really important because it's free,” Powell said. “You can see it from the street, it makes the places you live more beautiful. So to go to Ponca City, our first rural location is a really big deal.”
