A woman accused of ramming a police car after leading Rush Springs' Police on a high-speed pursuit was jailed on multiple complaints in Grady County.

The intense moments were captured on police bodycam.

In the early morning hours, around 1:30 a.m., a Rush Springs Police officer--northbound on Highway 81 was startled by headlights closing in.

“Just a split second or so she would have hit him head-on,” said Rush Springs Police Chief Chuck Clampitt.

The officer swerved----as Karen Christy continued to barrel down the highway in the wrong direction, sparking a pursuit.

Police: If it becomes reckless or dangerous-- possibly endangering the public, in any way, we'll stop the pursuit.

“As soon as he lights her up, she takes off going southbound and speeds up to 100 mile an hour,” said Clampitt.

Over the next 13 minutes, the pursuit entered Marlow.

After circling back northbound on Highway 81, Christy broadsided the officer's unit.

Rush Springs Police Officer: County, be advised the vehicle just slammed into me.

“She starts spinning, and it shoved him in the median and he misses the cable barrier-- by a foot and half, two foot,” said Clampitt.

Uninjured, the officer was able to exit his vehicle.

Police: Get out!
Christy: You're going to kill me!
Police: Let me see your hand! Give me your hand!

Christy was arrested. The officer grateful to walk away.

Police: You good man?
Rush Springs Police Officer: Yeah, I’m glad I didn’t lose it because she smoked me.
She gave us a run, literally I crossed county line, and she almost took me out, head-on.

Once in custody, Christy claimed to be the daughter of former astronaut Buzz Aldrin. She also claimed officers shot at her during the span of the pursuit. Neither statement is true. Court filings show a competency hearing is scheduled for June.
