A Midwest City man lost his home in a trailer park fire that erupted on Saturday.

Oklahoma City firefighters responded to the scene at SE 29th and Post Road where multiple trailers were burning.

The fire jumped to three trailers and at least one person is without a home now.

Firefighters on scene faced added dangers from nearby gasoline fuel.

Firefighters are investigating a possibly faulty air conditioner as the source of the flames.

"He was asleep, he heard a loud pop and then smoke detectors and he could smell smoke, so he got out through the front door," said Battalion Chief Greg Lindsay with the OKC Fire Department.

Fire officials said the man inside was not hurt, but when he turned around he saw his trailer fully-engulfed.

"It didn't really breach inside the trailer, but it caught the outside of the trailer on fire," Chief Lindsay said. "We're in the process of trying to mop that up and get that out so we can release it back to the park owner."

Several ATVs and other vehicles nearby also caught fire, eventually spreading to two other vacant trailers.

"Right now I'm not sure how much of it was gasoline power and how much of it was stored equipment waiting to be installed in a trailer," Chief Lindsay said.

The added fuel mixed with thinner construction materials can create a fast-spreading fire.

Crews said a faulty fire hydrant also delayed part of their response.

The vacant trailers have minimal damage.
