The Canadian County Sheriff’s Office seized 94 pounds of marijuana, 27 kilograms of cocaine and five kilograms of fentanyl at a traffic stop and arrested one man on May 26.
Gervis Gayle, who was driving the semi, was arrested for trafficking narcotics.
Deputies pulled over the semi saying it was following another vehicle too closely. While asking about the cargo, deputies noticed inconsistencies between Gayle’s story and the cargo paperwork, according to the CCSO.
Gayle allowed the deputies to search the truck and a K-9 alerted to four black drums, which were labeled as frozen grapes, deputies say. According to the CCSO, the expiration date for the drums was several years old. Deputies then located the drugs in the drums, according to the CCSO.
After an examination of Gayle’s phone, deputies determined this was his fifth time trafficking narcotics, this batch headed from California to New Jersey, according to the CCSO. Gayle’s bond was set for $200,000.
The truck was seized and is being held as evidence.
