An Edmond family says a loud boom on Monday ended with a fallen tree in their driveway.

Cynde Collins Clark and her husband have lived in the area for decades and have felt the shake of earthquakes, helicopters, and planes throughout the years.

"But this was nothing like that," she said. "This was far more frightening."

She heard the sound around 3 p.m. To her, It felt like it lasted a minute, but her husband estimated 10 to 30 seconds.

Short of an obvious answer, she took her mystery to social media.

"I began to get information from other people that indicated they, too, had experienced the same thing," she said. "And then I knew that there was something that needed to be looked into."

One person suggested in Clark's comments it could have been a stealth bomber.

News 9 contacted Tinker Air Force Base to learn if any military aircraft flew in the area while the boom was heard.

A spokesperson for the base said:

“We can confirm that on Monday between approximately 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., the B-1B Lancer was in the air over Oklahoma City and Edmond. Tinker Air Force Base has a mission to maintain aircraft to include the B-1 B Lancer and that includes a short test flight following routine maintenance before transferring the jet back to the warfighters. Tinker’s pilots comply with all Air Force and Federal Aviation Administration guidelines, including not flying lower than 1,000 feet at any time other than takeoff and landing, unless there is an emergency. During the flight on Monday, FAA directed the B-1 to fly over Edmond so they could approach Tinker and land to the south. The altitude was between 4,000 to 6,000 feet. The B-1B is the backbone of America’s long-range bomber force. Tinker’s mission is to provide sustainment to the fleet, so no munitions are on board as it flies over Oklahoma."
