Oklahoma City police are looking for suspects accused of killing a 17-year-old at a convenience store over the weekend.
Police said several people were seen running from the northwest Oklahoma City store after the deadly shooting.
Police have identified the victim as 17-year-old William Jackson. Investigators said Jackson died inside the store.
The Express Gas and Grocery store turned into a crime scene Saturday afternoon. Initial reports had the store clerk as the shooting victim of a robbery. When police arrived at the scene near Wilshire Boulevard and the Northwest Expressway, they learned the clerk was a witness to a fight that broke out inside the store. That altercation turned into multiple gunshots being fired.
“Upon arrival, they found one gunshot victim deceased inside,” said Captain Benjamin Weir, Oklahoma City Police Department.
Police said Jackson was involved in an altercation with three people. At this time, it is unknown what prompted the fight, what it was about or if the victim knew the suspects.
“There were multiple weapons used in the incident,” said Weir.
Police said the three suspects ran from the store and are still outstanding. Witnesses were interviewed at the scene and investigators collected security video in the area.
“We’re trying to obtain as much information as much evidence or video surveillance in that area to try to figure out what exactly happened, who exactly was involved,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department.
Police said the investigation was still early and they did not know if the suspects were juveniles or adults.
The public can call the Homicide Tip Line at (405) 297-1200 if they have information about the shooting.
