Going back to school can be stressful for families, especially keeping up with the long checklist that accompanies the new school year.

Erica Rankin-Riley, a representative from the State Department of Health, joined News 9 to share the importance of starting early and ordering these documents online to avoid last-minute stress.

"It's never too early, and you want to start preparing now," Rankin-Riley said.

Getting prepared for your child's new school year can be helpful by organizing and scheduling important tasks before the fall.

"If kids are enrolling in a new school, or for the first time, ordering birth certificate copies, that's really important. Securing your child's shot records, getting those ready to go and also getting up to date on your childhood immunizations," Rankin-Riley said.

The State Department of Health has created a checklist to keep track of back to school tasks, making it easier for parents to ensure that their child has everything they need to start the new school year.
