Goodwill of Central Oklahoma is preparing to host the organization's fourth-annual runway fashion show, featuring designs made entirely from upcycled materials.
The Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch journeyed out to the show to take a look at what guests can expect.
Melissa Richey, the vice president of community engagement at Goodwill of Central Oklahoma, said the show helps raise money for their organization.
"The runway fashion show is our largest fashion show here in central Oklahoma," Goodwill's Melissa Richey said. "It's a fundraiser for Goodwill of Central Oklahoma to help people who have challenges to employment."
Partnering with local artists, they are able to use recyclable materials to create their fashion pieces, a practice known as upcycling, turning something old into something new once again.
"That's really what Goodwill is about, sustainability," Richey said. "The decor that we will have this year is the "seasons of opportunity," which a lot of our clients and staff go through... we want to showcase their stories, highlight them and the seasons that they go through."
The show is scheduled for Aug. 2, but until then, organizers have as much time as needed to create their pieces and prepare.
