The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office is crediting a Shawnee business with helping to put an accused child predator behind bars.

In April of 2024, investigators say Star Skate employees helped jumpstart an investigation after they reported a possible sexual assault.

“I’ve got to applaud them because they do a great job and keeping an eye on the people who are there,” said Sgt. Richard Finch, Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office.

The employee told investigators they had followed one of their patrons, a minor, outside after she violated one of the business’s rules.

“You’re not supposed to go outside [...] the adult's supposed to come in and pick them up,” said Finch.

Investigators said the business sounded the alarm and provided investigators with surveillance video of an 11-year-old girl and 27-year-old Dominic Holland engaged in a sex act.

“They saw something, thought it wasn’t right,” said Finch.

Investigators said Holland frequents skating rinks across the metro including Star Skate in Shawnee.

“Initially, at first glance, you could think he was younger than what he was,” said Finch.

Investigators say while Holland appeared to be younger employees knew knew he was an adult. “I guess he applied at some point, and they had an application on file,” said Finch.

Investigators tracked down the 11-year-old girl. She told investigators Holland lied about his age.

“They were appalled. He had portrayed himself to be 15 to 16 years old to these girls,” said Finch.

Then with news of Holland's arrest, investigators said more alleged victims came forward. They said Holland had pressured or forced them into sexual acts that took place across Pottawatomie County.

Investigators are now focusing on his alleged victims, including the ones they believe may still be silent. “We want to make sure they get the justice that they deserve,” said Finch. "We believe he was in the areas of Moore, Norman, obviously Shawnee, Choctaw, and as far as Muskogee,”

The owner of Star Skate told News 9 they called investigators because they wanted to ensure Holland would be held accountable.

Holland is in jail and is charged with child sex crimes. His bond is set at $500,000.
