OU Organizers Setting Up Weekend Festivities Ahead Of University's Move To The SEC

Although the University of Oklahoma will officially make its move to the Southeastern Conference in July, celebrations begin this weekend, starting with the 5K Glow Run on Sunday.

OU Athletics said the event will "signify" the school's entry into a new athletic conference.

"We'll have fireworks going off at midnight, the fireworks will really signify the official entry into the SEC," OU Athletics executive associate athletic director Leah Beasley said. "So if you're also watching [on] social, digital, web you'll see that flip of the switch."

The full series of events, called "Wake Up in the SEC," starts Monday at 7:30 a.m. with a full schedule of events.

Those interested will be able to grab breakfast at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill and see the Paul Finebaum Show live before heading to the "Party at the Palace," located at the Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

The party will include food trucks, inflatables, games and live music.
