The Village Police Department and Fire Department will hold their annual Battle of the Badges softball game on Saturday to raise money to support Oklahoma Special Olympic athletes.

Ryan Jacobson from The Village PD, along with Special Olympic Athlete Abby Papirtis and her dad Jeff stopped by News 9 at 9 to talk more about the event.

Jacobson said this is the fourth annual softball game and the second year they are donating to Special Olympics.

He said their goal is to get everyone in the community involved in the fundraiser.

"We've really try to get the community involved and make it a big community event," Jacobson said. "It's a good time for all, it's a good time for us to get out and do something other than law enforcement."

Proceeds from the event will benefit local Special Olympics athletes. Jeff said community support means everything to them.

"Special Olympics have given her such an opportunity to shine, and it's even better now that we have the community rallying around, raising funds, and the police and fire department being involved," Jeff said.

There will be drinks supplied by Meridian coffee, a meet and greet with Miss Oklahoma, food trucks, and more.

The game is at 10 a.m. at the Casady School Baseball Field.
