A Chickasha family is recovering after Sunday’s storm tore off part of their roof. They spent Monday cleaning up the mess and looked toward repairs.

The family was home at the time the storm hit. However, they said everyone was okay. There was no time to dwell on storm damage as roofing workers cleared debris from Tyanna Raffety’s home.

“Yeah, it was a lot. that’s part of my roof,” said Raffety, pointing to her favorite room of her Chickasha home. “We were lucky.”

On Sunday, parts of Chickasha felt Mother Nature’s wrath. Tyanna’s cameras caught the show as a gust of wind tore part of her sunroom’s roof off the walls.

“Just a crazy day,” Raffety said. “Thirty seconds of terror.”

Her family moved to the metro from Maine eight years ago before they bought their first home and planted their roots.

“It’s been fun, and it’s been scary,” she said. “It’s different but it’s great. I didn’t know I needed it. “[The home is] kinda like my pride and joy, which is weird, but it is.

Chickasha’s outskirts offer a place for her kids to grow with the nature around them.

“It’s brought so much peace to me,” Raffety said.

Raffety said she tries not to sweat the small stuff. The sunroom will be fixed.

“As much as I love it, it’s replaceable,” she said. “I won’t be without a sunroom. I’ll tell you that.”

She had plenty of help with contractors removing the damage. Raffety said she has a great insurance company helping her navigate the damage. Even without a roof in the room, Raffety saw the extra light shining down on her family.

“We’re lucky to just have what it was and have nobody get hurt,” Raffety said.
